The Big Explore – day two
Four schools to attend
Event Objectives
To offer a day of collaborative fun team-building activities to raise student’s expectations of their own capability, give them a new confidence, introduce them to new activities and develop their sense of well-being.
Skills
Teamwork, strategic thinking, communication, working with new people, perseverance, trouble shooting, practical den building and fire lighting.
The Big Explore: information and guidelines
- Each school to select 7 girls and 7 boys from Key Stage 3 to bring to this event.
- Three schools to attend one day (42 students) and four schools to attend the other day (56 students)
- CCCU to provide for 8 student ambassadors to act as team captains – 2 per team.
- Students will be mixed up and split into 4 teams supported by 2 CCCU Ambassadors.
- Schools to arrive at The Pines Calyx at 9.30am briefed about the day of the event.
- Staff to provide the Coordinator with an accurate register upon arrival and information on any students who cannot be photographed.
- Students will need to arrive in comfy sports style clothes with waterproof outerwear and appropriate clothing for the predicted weather (remembering it can be a lot colder and windier by the sea). It is advised that students bring a change of clothes with them.
- Schools to arrange for pupils to bring a packed lunch for the day. There is water available on site but water bottles required.
- CCCU Captains will watch their teams and nominate the four following awards (tbc) for each team:
Best communicator
Demonstration of leadership skills
Most improved confidence
Inclusion award
